Manchester City is heavily favored to fend off a challenge from Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in the biggest matchup in Week 2 of the English Premier League season.
DraftKings Sportsbook lists City as a -305 favorite to grab the full three points at home over Spurs (+750), who are widely considered to be the third best side in the Premier League this season.
City Looks to Defend Premier League Title
But even Tottenham is expected to be overmatched by a Manchester City side that has won the last two Premier League titles. City won 18 of its 19 home matches in the EPL last season, losing only a 3-2 decision to Crystal Palace just before Christmas.
City beat Tottenham in three of four meetings last season, but will be wary of Spurs, who eliminated City in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Tottenham will also know that getting points on Saturday will help to establish it as a legitimate challenger for the Premier League title. But the pick is still a win at home for the Citizens.
Chelsea Needs Strong Performance vs. Leicester
Chelsea was humiliated in its first match of the Premier League season, losing 4-0 at Manchester United. While the side looked much better in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup – one that ended in a loss on penalties – grabbing the full three points at home against Leicester City would go a long way towards confirming itself as a Big Six team in the EPL.
Chelsea (-143) is a relatively modest favorite against Leicester (+420), with a draw (+275) certainly in play. American fans will be particularly interested in the performance of Christian Pulisic, who played well for Chelsea in the Super Cup match but has yet to score for his new team in a competitive match.
Wolves on the Prowl
The Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the more intriguing Premier League sides this season. After finishing in seventh place last year – good enough to earn a Europa League qualifying spot – Wolves has an outside shot of breaking into the top six this year.
To do so, they’ll need to get results at home against teams like Manchester United, who will visit them on Monday. Wolves (+230) is considered a slight underdog to beat United (+128), but even a draw (+225) would show that they can hang with the big names in the EPL.
There are a number of other notable matches around the Premier League this weekend, as all 20 clubs will be in action.
The remaining Big Six sides are both fairly large favorites, with Arsenal (-335) hosting Burnley (+900) while Liverpool (-220) travels to Southampton (+575). Meanwhile, Brighton (+150) will look to follow up its 3-0 win over Watford with a home victory against West Ham (+195), which is coming off a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City in its opener.
