Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG) announced its first-ever cross-channel advertising campaign on Monday. The marketing ploy features legendary actor and entertainer Neil Patrick Harris.
NPH, as the actor is affectionately known by his legions of fans, stars in the commercials as a lounge piano player-singer who somehow manages to go wherever the GNOG iGaming player goes. From the veterinarian’s waiting room to a deep sea fishing boat, Patrick serenades Golden Nugget Online Casino players while they play the app’s slot machines and table games.
“Golden Nugget online casino, always a crowd pleaser, so live it up while you wait for that golden retriever,” Harris sings in the Golden Nugget Online Casino ad that’s set in the vet’s office.
He’s fishing for some tuna, playing live dealer while he waits. He hasn’t had a nibble but he caught a pair of 8s,” Harris sings in the fishing spot. “It’s like he’s sitting at the tables while he’s on the high seas, Golden Nugget Online Casino, can we get some face cards please?”
NPH is a national treasure, as he’s provided entertainment for Americans for decades. His career began with the titular character of the ABC series “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” which ran from 1989 through 1993. He’s also well known for playing Barney Stinson on the long-running CBS series, “How I Met Your Mother.”
Other notable credits include appearances as himself in the “Harold & Kumar” film series, Netflix’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” “The Smurfs” movies, and “Gone Girl.”
Harris has hosted the Emmy Awards twice and the Academy Awards. He’s also starred on Broadway with “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” for which he won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.
Time magazine named Harris among its 100 Most Influential People in 2010.
Celebrity Endorsements
Celebrities have been among the great beneficiaries of the legalization of online casino gambling in the US, as numerous actors, singers, comedians, athletes, and reality television stars have landed lucrative sponsorship deals to shill iGaming on social media and other mediums.
A few names to have promoted online casinos via television, print, and social media include Kevin Hart, John Stamos, Andy Cohen, Bethenny Frankel, Vince Vaughn, JB Smoove, Jamie Foxx, Vanessa Hudgens, Tony Hawk, and Rob Gronkowski.
Golden Nugget Online Casino is live in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, and New Jersey. The online casino website and app offer more than 500 slots and table game options.
The NPH campaign, titled “Make Any Moment Golden,” will air on television in those states and be targeted via social media to users in the legal iGaming markets.
GNOG iGaming Leader
In New Jersey, the richest iGaming state among the legal jurisdictions, GNOG is the dominant operator.
Golden Nugget generated 2023 internet gross gaming revenue (GGR) of nearly $524.8 million, its all-time best 12-month span. Statewide iGaming GGR totaled about $1.92 billion, meaning GNOG commanded a more than 27% market share.
The physical Golden Nugget Hotel Casino & Marina in Atlantic City generated GGR of $146.1 million on its retail slots and table games.
GNOG in New Jersey tethers its license to several platforms in addition to Golden Nugget Online Casino. Golden Nugget partners include FanDuel, Betway, BetRivers, and Jackpot City.
