Jamaican police are continuing to search for the armed man who recently stole more than US$12.7K from a woman in a local casino.
The crime unfolded at about 10 a.m. Friday, when the solitary bandit approached the helpless victim and pulled out a firearm before ordering the woman into a nearby office.
He then stole (Jamaica) $2,060,000 and a smartphone from her, according to a report from The Gleaner, a local news outlet.
The suspect then fled and remained on the lam over the weekend. There’s been no word on if the victim was injured during the robbery.
The unnamed casino is located on Young Street in Spanish Town, in St. Catherine parish.
The St. Catherine North police department is leading the investigation.
If he’s caught, charged, put on trial, and convicted, the suspect faces a prison sentence for the robbery.
Violent Visitor at Rivers Casino
A drunken man was arrested at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh on Friday after allegedly assaulting both a state trooper and someone else during a brawl, Pennsylvania authorities said.
Christopher Okeefe, 39, of Moon Township, Pa., was charged with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, evading arrest or detention on foot, resisting arrest, two disorderly conduct counts, and public drunkenness.
The incident began at about 9 p.m. when Okeefe got into a fight on the casino’s gaming floor. He allegedly struck someone with his belt during the ruckus, according to Pennsylvania TV station WPXI.
Pennsylvania state troopers assigned to the casino then attempted to apprehend him, but he was able to flee into the casino’s parking garage. Troopers spotted Okeefe a short time later before eventually apprehending him. On his way to Allegheny County Jail, he allegedly assaulted a state trooper.
Sometime during the violent episode, Okeefe also made threats that were overheard by state troopers.
After arriving at the jail, Okeefe was booked on multiple charges before his case was turned over to local prosecutors.
Police didn’t reveal what led to the initial fight and didn’t say if anyone else involved in the fight was charged.
