Las Vegas Crime News Roundup: Man Allegedly Tossed Five Puppies Into Dumpster

The recent discovery of five puppies, that were stuffed into a trash bag, found in a Las Vegas dumpster, has led to a man’s arrest.
The puppies smelled of chlorine when they were found on November 5 at an apartment complex on Charleston Boulevard. It was later revealed that the chemicals dropped on the puppies were bleach and another cleaning fluid, police said.
On November 6, Michael Grindrod, 39, of Las Vegas was arrested and faces animal abuse charges, according to according to Las Vegas TV station KLAS.
He was in custody as of Tuesday. He was also suspected in an auto theft case.
The suspect was being evicted from a residence and recently lost a job, the report said.
In addition to the five puppies in the dumpster, he kept three others and the dogs’ mother, called Zoey.
The dogs were rescued by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and placed with The Animal Foundation, a local shelter, and then an organization called Wagging Tails Rescue, KLAS reported.
The eight puppies and the mother are being called “Zoey and her Zoo” by the rescue organization. Each puppy will be named for an animal.
The eight puppies and their mother are expected to recover. A ninth puppy was put down after blood was found in its chest.
The Animal Foundation can place unwanted dogs and other pets in the Las Vegas area, as well as provide food for animals. The foundation’s hotline is 702-955-5932.
Defendant in Three Murders Agrees to Plea Deal
A man has agreed to a plea deal after being charged in Las Vegas-area murders, robberies, and a kidnapping.
On Monday, Anthony Carrillo, 33, agreed to the plea agreement. He will plead guilty to 20 criminal counts which stem from a 2021 crime spree.
He was accused in three murders, an attempted murder, a kidnapping, as well as burglaries and assaults, according to Las Vegas TV station KLAS.
One of the murders relates to a shooting near Eastern Avenue. Another deadly shooting took place in Henderson and still another elsewhere in Las Vegas.
Prosecutors agreed to drop the death penalty in his cases. Instead, he faces a likely sentence of life in prison with no chance for parole, according to KLAS.
He currently is in custody at the Clark County Detention Center. Formerly, Carrillo spent time in a California prison, KLAS reported.
Man Arrested for 30-Plus Burglaries
A man was arrested on Tuesday after police investigated more than 30 burglaries in and around Las Vegas.
The burglaries, which began in June, took place at over 30 businesses. Many were Asian restaurants, which were in the Spring Mountain Corridor, police said.
The suspect, Cedric Hasan, 34, was charged with 35 counts for burglaries and theft.
He was identified as a suspect after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) discovered the suspect was repeatedly seen wearing brightly colored shoes.
The total damages to the various businesses were $100K.
