Offset Sued for $100K Casino Debt Prior to Separate Casino Shooting

Injured rapper Offset, who is currently recovering from being shot outside Florida’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, is being sued for $100K he borrowed from a different casino.

According to a lawsuit filed in Wayne County Circuit Court and first reported by TMZ, Detroit’s MotorCity Casino Hotel claims Offset failed to repay a $100,000 line of credit he opened in March 2024.

The complaint states that after repeated attempts to contact the rapper went unanswered, the casino attempted to withdraw the funds directly from his bank account, as permitted under the credit agreement.

The withdrawal allegedly failed due to insufficient funds, prompting MotorCity to sue for breach of contract and fraud.

The lawsuit was filed on March 30, roughly a week before the ex-Migos rapper was shot in Florida. A representative for the rapper told TMZ he is “working toward a resolution” of the debt.

The Detroit case adds to a string of recent financial issues for Offset. Public records show the IRS filed a federal tax lien against him for more than $1.5 million in unpaid income taxes, which he later resolved.

Former NFL star Dez Bryant also posted on X on April 7 alleging Offset owed him money, though no lawsuit has been filed and the claim remains unverified.

Offset was shot on April 6 in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock. Hollywood Police said the gunfire followed a physical altercation between two groups.

Investigators have not publicly identified the shooter. Rapper Lil Tjay, who was present at the scene, was arrested only for misdemeanor disorderly conduct, with police alleging he “directed members of his party to start a fight” before the shooting occurred. His attorney has stated he had no involvement in the gunfire.

The two rappers’ beef was apparently about $10,000 Offset owed to Lil Tijay.

Offset, whose given name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, remains in stable condition as both the criminal investigation and the Detroit civil case move forward.
