While May’s handle represented a 2% bump over April, it tracked just behind the all-time market record of $9.592 billion set in March.

On the revenue side, Ontario saw $413.1 million in total non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR)—the second-highest monthly total ever recorded, trailing only the record $425.6 million generated in December 2025.

Online Casino Continues to Drive Growth

The number of licensed operators in Ontario now sits at 46, managing a combined 80 gaming websites. Several of the market’s heavyweights, including FanDuel and DraftKings, have heavily prioritized stand-alone casino offerings—a direct response to the overwhelming popularity of iCasino products throughout the province.

Looking at the breakdown of total cash wagers, online casino games commanded a staggering 88% market share in May, handling $8.371 billion for a 3% month-over-month increase. Conversely, sports betting accounted for 10% of the handle at $972 million (a 7% dip from April), while peer-to-peer poker brought in 1% ($134 million), marking a 5% monthly uptick.

Player Spending Holds Steady

While active player accounts slipped slightly by 1% to 1.257 million compared to April, monetization metrics improved. The average revenue per active player account rose 3% month-over-month to $329. This stability highlights the structural resilience of the market, where online casino’s share of total handle has never dipped below 85% over the past 12 months.

On the revenue side of the ledger, online casinos generated $326.4 million in May, claiming a 79% share of NAGGR and marking a 4% sequential increase. Sportsbooks brought in $81.3 million (20% share, down 5% from April), while poker revenue contributed $5.4 million (1% share, up 2%).

This highly profitable ecosystem continues to benefit from rapid legal adoption. A joint study released by iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) revealed that 91.1% of online gamblers in the province now play exclusively on regulated sites—a significant jump from the 83.7% channelization rate recorded last year.
