Counting the Zeros

The siblings, Jonathan R. and Mylene P. (OLG now only releases winners’ first name and last initial to the media) won the jackpot from the March 3, 2026, draw, according to an OLG news release.

Both siblings said they’ve been playing the lottery for nearly two years and have always chosen numbers that hold special significance to them and their families.

It was Jonathan who first discovered the win, checking the ticket on the OLG app early one morning.

At first, I thought we won $75,000. My eyes were still sleepy,” he said. “When I put on my glasses to take a second look, I noticed there were more zeros and I was so happy!”

Dreams Become Reality

He then told his sister – who said she also thought they had won $75,000, until her brother told her to “count the zeros”.

Jonathan said he, his sister and their family came to Canada for a better life. His main priority now, with the windfall, is to take care of his parents, his wife and children.

“My children will have their education paid for,” he said. “I want them to have the best of the best.”

He’s also now in the market for a property to build a large home where his family can grow together.

So many generations will benefit from this windfall,” he said, adding he wants to build a small chapel in his hometown, as part of the legacy of helping others.

Giving Back

Like her brother, Mylene noted that family remains her top priority. On top of eyeing international trips to Germany, Austria, and Japan, she is planning a massive cross-Canada vacation to bring together their parents, children, and spouses.

“This win is life-changing — not only for us, but also for our children. I’ve always dreamt of building a home of my own, and I’m looking forward to making that a reality,” she said. “I made my living cleaning beautiful houses, and now I can clean my own new beautiful home. My heart is full of so much love and joy.”

LOTTO MAX is coordinated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation. The other national lottery games in Canada are Lotto 6/49 and Daily Grand. LOTTO MAX often has the biggest rolling prizes.
