Casino Crime News Roundup: Ex-Cop Convicted for Assaulting Guard

A former police officer was found guilty last week of assaulting a security guard at the MGM Grand Detroit casino.
A Michigan jury found Kevin Yudt, 43, of Grass Lake, Mich., guilty of several counts, including two counts of ethnic intimidation and one count of assault and battery. Yudt will be sentenced next month.
The incident began when Yudt was prevented from entering the gaming property on April 6, 2023, after he appeared to be intoxicated.
He told the guard he was a sergeant at the Westland Police Department and threatened, “I’ll be waiting for you when you come to Westland, and you will not survive,” according to ClickOnDetroit.
Yudt also poked the unnamed guard in the chest and yelled more than one racial slur at him, the report added.
A month later, Yudt was fired by the police department, according to the report.
Suspect Sought After $60K Stolen
Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole $60K from a car parked at Oklahoma’s Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant in September.
The suspect allegedly broke the front passenger window and stole the cash from the car. The warrant charges the suspect with burglary and grand larceny, according to Oklahoma TV station KXII.
The 45-year-old suspect, who resides in Plano, Texas, twice went into the car to steal items.
South Dakota Casino Robbed
An unspecified amount of cash was stolen from a Sioux Falls, South Dakota casino on Monday.
The suspect approached an employee, displayed a knife, and demanded the money, according to Dakota News Now. He took the cash and fled from the scene.
The suspect was described as a thin white man, about six-feet tall. He was dressed in dark clothes.
No one was injured.
Ohio Gambling Raids
Several illegal gambling operations were raided last week in Akron, Ohio following a police investigation.
Authorities seized 150 gambling machines, $93,188 in cash, two handguns, and suspected drugs during the searches, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
Suspects were ordered to appear in Akron Municipal Court on gambling violations.
Some of the raided locations were gambling parlors and others were liquor stores.
The police investigation into suspicious activity at the properties lasted seven months. A judge then approved search warrants for the operations.
