The 38-year-old Wyandanch, N.Y., victim was seriously injured, but still was able to walk into Islandia, N.Y.’s Jake’s 58 Casino and Hotel. He revealed he had been wounded. Casino staff called police.

An ambulance later transported the wounded man to a local hospital where he was treated by physicians.

The shooting took place in the casino’s parking lot. The victim appears to have been shot twice, according to Newsday.

The victim was targeted by the shooter and it appears not to have been a random incident, according to News 12 Long Island. No one else was injured.

The suspect never entered the casino building and fled from the parking lot after firing the shots.

As of early Sunday, police had yet to make an arrest in the case. No word on the victim’s updated condition.

The incident led casino officials to undertake a review of their safety procedures.

We’re going to revamp and refresh everything we have, do new training for our workers and work more closely with the Suffolk County Police Department who … did a great job,” Phil Boyle, president and CEO of Suffolk Regional Off-Track Betting, told News 12.
