Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon this weekend in Las Vegas. But the MMA star is already looking to his next fight, and it’s a boxing rematch with Floyd Mayweather that he desires.
The Notorious spoke this week on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show regarding his future plans. And McGregor hopes they include fighting outside the Octagon and inside the ring.
I’d like to rematch Floyd,” McGregor revealed. “I think we should rematch Floyd.”
McGregor vs. Mayweather in August of 2017 had the attention of the sports world. The boxing fight – McGregor’s first professional boxing bout – generated more than $600 million in revenue and 4.3 million pay-per-view buys. Those numbers rank second only to Mayweather’s 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao.
McGregor, a long underdog against perhaps the best boxer in the history of the sport, was defeated by technical knockout (TKO) in the 10th round. “It was a great, great experience, and, you know, I look forward to doing it again,” McGregor added. “It’s going to happen.”
Present Odds
McGregor is facing Donald Cerrone this Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in a welterweight class fight. They are the headlining main event of UFC 246: McGregor vs. Cowboy. It’s McGregor’s first MMA fight since his October 2018 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
FanDuel has McGregor the favorite at -290, and Cerrone the underdog at +220. A $100 bet respectively nets $34.48 and $220. Odds on how the fight ends is KO/TKO -320, points (+490), and submission (+550).
Conor by KO/TKO is the likeliest outcome at -200. Cerrone by KO/TKO is +650. The fight going the distance is long at Yes +440, No -800.
Tale of the Tape
McGregor Cerrone
Age: 31 36
Record: 21-4 36-13, 1 NC
Finishes: 19 27
Height: 5’9″ 6’1″
Reach: 74″ 73″
McGregor’s odds of -290 means the betting public is heavily backing the UFC star.
FanDuel opened its line on the Cerrone fight with Conor at -164, which returns $60.98 for each $100 wagered. The odds shortening results in a $100 bet netting $26.50 less.
McGregor says he has his life in order following several run-ins with the law.
“I know what I need to do. I knew what I needed to do and what I shouldn’t have been doing,” McGregor explained. “I just listened to myself and followed my orders, and it’s just made me a better individual, just a better man. I’m just in a much better place.”
Saturday’s Main Card also features Holly Holms vs. Raquel Pennington. Holms is the favorite (-142), and Pennington the underdog (+116).
Future Odds
UFC President Dana White confirmed that McGregor’s odds of boxing Mayweather a second time aren’t all that long.
The UFC boss says he has a handshake deal with Mayweather for him to come out of retirement for the right opportunity. White said recently that he plans to reach out to Mayweather’s promoter Al Haymon this summer to discuss a possible event.
As for the hypothetical odds, Mayweather will certainly once again be heavily favored in a boxing fight against McGregor. Odds on their 2017 closed around -750 in Mayweather’s favor. On those odds, bettors won $13.33 for every $100 wagered.

The greater fool theory in action. I would pay to see May Weather fight UFC style, not going to happen. I'll keep my money.
