Hard Rock Atlantic City is ready to ring in the 2020 New Year by offering guests a special $2,020 package that gives them the special holiday treatment.
The rock ‘n’ roll package includes a one-night stay in a Roxy Suite, private dinner at Council Oak Fish with custom wine pairings, couples massage, bottle of champagne, and two tickets to either Howie Mandel’s Comedy Club or DAER Nightclub.
Once again, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority will sponsor a fireworks show that occurs early for guests of all ages. The sky will light up at 9 pm, with the fireworks being set off from the Tropicana on the Boardwalk.
Casinos across the town are offering special New Year’s Eve packages, and many still have rooms available. However, be prepared to pay a premium rate for your December 31st stay.
Cheaper Than Vegas
Considering a last-minute jaunt to Atlantic City to close out the decade? Rooms are, of course, higher than your standard Tuesday night. But compared to Las Vegas, the East Coast gambling mecca offers value.
As Casino.org reported last week, a two-night standard room stay on the Las Vegas Strip for December 30 through January 1 was going for as much as $1,471 (Bellagio). The price is inclusive of taxes and resort fees.
Borgata, considered the premiere casino hotel of Atlantic City’s nine gaming resorts, has a standard room for tonight through the New Year for $1,008, inclusive of taxes and resort fee. Marina District neighbor Harrah’s is $784, while the Golden Nugget is sold out.
Boardwalk Rates Dec. 30-Jan 1
- Tropicana – $854
- Hard Rock – $798
- Caesars – $736
- Bally’s – $660
- Resorts – sold out
- Ocean Casino – sold out
The non-gaming Showboat hotel on the Boardwalk additionally has a standard room for two nights at $580.
While costs are more affordable in Atlantic City than Las Vegas, the celebrity talent isn’t quite as A-list. While the Strip will feature headlining performances from Lady Gaga, Journey, Maroon 5, and Lizzo, Atlantic City is marketing KC & The Sunshine Band, Taylor Dane, and The Early November.
Atlantic City Economy
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement recently released third quarter statistics for the city’s nine casinos.
Gross operating profits – a measure of profitability that includes gaming and resort operations – revealed all nine are profitable, and six reported a year-over-year percentage increase in their bottom lines.
However, hotel occupancy is reduced this year through nine months. Atlantic City is home to 15,102 rooms, which have been occupied at a rate of 81.2 percent. January through September 2018, those same rooms were booked 84.1 percent of the time.
The average daily rate per occupied room has increased from $138.74 to $145.51. Borgata commands the highest rate ($174.08), and Golden Nugget the lowest ($85.17).
Land-based gross gaming revenue through November totals $2.477 billion. That’s a 7.7 percent surge on the same period in 2018.
