Oregon Lottery Sports Betting App Scoreboard Posts First Month Handle of $13.1 Million, Lucky Bettor Turns $5 Into $82,000 on 15-Team Parlay

The Oregon Lottery’s sports betting mobile application, known as “Scoreboard,” notched a decent first month handle of $13.1 million, paying $12.1 million of that tally to winning gamblers.
Speaking of winners, one fortunate Oregon bettor recently turned $5 into $81,965 by hitting a 15-team parlay, by far the largest win in Scoreboard’s still nascent stages. Obviously, that type of return on investment is eye-popping. But what makes the bettor’s good fortune all the more surprising is the sport chosen for the accumulator.
Scoreboard forbids bets on college sports, so the parlay winner wasn’t hitting on college football or hoops. Nor did the gambler have a card full of NBA or NFL games. Rather, he or she accurately chose 15 recent Euroleague women and Eurocup women basketball league games.
It was the largest payout on a single wager since the Oregon Lottery released its new online sports betting game last month,” reports KGW 8, Portland’s NBC affiliate.
While Scoreboard doesn’t offer action on college competitions, it does allow bettors to invest in all four of the major domestic athletic leagues, as well as less-bet fare, such as Major League Soccer, professional golf, NASCAR, and, obviously, international sports.
Not Testing The Limits…Yet
Prior to Scoreboard’s recent launch, officials from the Oregon Lottery said bettors there would be able to deposit up to $250,000 in their wagering accounts, implying the app could take a single bet of that amount.
Lottery officials didn’t say a single bet of $250,000 would be refused. But amid concerns from community leaders that such a large amount and no caps on the number of wagers that can be placed could cause problem gambling, the lottery implemented protocols to monitor bettor behavior.
To date, Beaver State bettors are nowhere close to testing Scoreboard’s willingness to take a wager of $250,000, as the average bet size thus far is just $22.
One sports bettor wagered $15,021 on the Spurs/Lakers game on Nov. 25. They lost the bet,” according to KGW 8.
That’s the largest loss on Scoreboard thus far.
Sort Of Big Bets
The largest single game NFL wagers on Scoreboard since the app debuted were courtesy of the same gambler, who plunked down a combined $7,000 on the over/under of the Nov. 24 Cleveland Browns-Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons-Tampa Bay Buccaneers games. Those winning wagers, delivering $5,000 to the gambler.
Oregon media reports note that the largest individual NFL bet to date on Scoreboard was a $10,000 futures wager on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl.
However, that bettor got skittish, opting to use Scoreboard’s “Bet Back” feature, taking a $1,000 hit but getting $9,000 back in order to get out of the wager.
Data from Oregon Lottery hasn’t yet mentioned anything about unusual bets on the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, the state’s lone franchise from one of the “big four” US sports leagues.
