Station Casinos marked its 50th anniversary this week by issuing company stock valued at more than $70 million to its workforce.

Station Casinos marked its 50th anniversary Wednesday by announcing plans to award more than $70 million in stock to nearly 10,000 full- and part-time employees.
The Las Vegas locals operator will distribute shares of its publicly traded parent company, Red Rock Resorts Inc. (NASDAQ: RRR), starting Sept. 14. Workers will receive $1,000 in equity for every year of service.
Our father founded this company on a few simple principles: serve the local community, deliver great value, and most importantly, take care of our team members,” Red Rock Resorts Chairman and CEO Frank Fertitta III said in a release. “This award reflects those values and recognizes the people who have brought them to life every day for the past 50 years.”
Red Rock Vice Chairman Lorenzo Fertitta added that the payout represents “an investment in our nearly 10,000 team members, whose dedication and commitment we are deeply thankful for.”
Stock Structure and Tenure Payouts
Station’s longest-tenured employee, Ida Johnson—who joined the company in 1977 when it operated as the Bingo Palace—is set to receive $49,000 in stock. Seven employees will receive payouts exceeding $45,000.
The Fertitta brothers retain controlling interest in Red Rock Resorts through Class B super-voting shares, which carry 10 votes per share and grant the billionaires roughly 90% of the total voting power. The $70 million employee distribution will be issued in Class A common stock, which carries one vote per share.
Culinary Union Legal Dispute
The equity grant follows a major legal setback for the company’s flagship property, Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa. The U.S. Supreme Court last week denied an emergency appeal from the resort, leaving intact an order requiring management to recognize and bargain with the Culinary Workers Union Local 226.
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ruled in 2022 that Station Casinos unlawfully interfered with unionization efforts by hiking wages and benefits just prior to an employee vote. Station has consistently denied the allegations.
With the Supreme Court declining to hear the appeal, Red Rock management must begin good-faith contract negotiations with Culinary, which represents 60,000 hospitality workers across Las Vegas and Reno.
