Tiger Woods 2019 Masters Favorite, Oddsmakers Offering Assortment of Props on 14-Time Major Winner

Fresh off Tiger Woods’ first PGA Tour victory in more than five years, a rush of bettors have printed tickets on the 14-time major champ to win his fifth green jacket at the Masters next April. The flurry of activity has prompted the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas to slash his line to 9/1, now the shortest odds in the field.

The 9/1 line implies winning odds of 10 percent, with a $100 wager returning $900 should Woods indeed emerge victorious.

It’s an astonishing comeback, perhaps the greatest in golf history. At this time last year, Woods wasn’t even sure he’d be able to play at Augusta National after recovering from his fourth back surgery.

Woods, who jetted off to France with Team USA for this weekend’s Ryder Cup immediately following his win at the Tour Championship, said today, “I haven’t really had a lot of time to soak it in. I will post-Ryder Cup. I’ll take a look back and reflect.”

Team USA is favored to win the international competition over the Europeans. The Americans are at -180, to Europe at +150.

Phil Admits Being Underdog

After the Ryder Cup, Woods and Phil Mickelson will go head-to-head in November in a winner-takes-all $10 million showdown at Las Vegas’ Shadow Creek Golf Course.

With Tiger’s recent strong play, the money is moving to the 80-time PGA Tour winner. The line opened in early August with Woods a slight favorite at -140, and Lefty the underdog at +120.

The odds have shifted heavily in Woods’ favor, with the SuperBook presently listing Woods at -220, and Mickelson +180. A $100 bet on a Tiger victory would net just $45.45, while the same gamble on Phil would return $180.

Ahead of the Ryder Cup, Mickelson conceded to being the underdog.

“I just played with Tiger today and it is the best I’ve ever seen him swing the club. I’ll be asking for a shot a side for our Thanksgiving match,” Mickelson said jokingly.
