VSiN, or the Vegas Stats & Information Network, is launching a channel on SiriusXM satellite radio that will provide around-the-clock coverage on all things related to sports betting.
Beginning next week, VSiN will take control of Channel 158. The Sports Betting Network, as the channel will officially be called, debuts on Friday, January 17.
The Sports Betting Network will deliver SiriusXM listeners sports betting insights and analysis from industry experts 24/7. VSiN’s dedicated channel will be available to listeners across North America on SiriusXM vehicle radios and on the SiriusXM app.
We’ve always understood the importance of the SiriusXM platform for sports fans and betting enthusiasts and are thrilled to deliver the unique sports betting content this engaged and growing audience is looking for — straight from the entertainment and gaming capital of the world in Las Vegas,” said Brian Musburger, VSiN cofounder, president, and chief business officer. “Distribution on SiriusXM is a critical component of our expansion strategy and helps solidify VSiN’s position as the nation’s largest sports betting network.”
VSiN is also teaming up with Mad Dog Sports Radio on Channel 82 for a nightly program that will air from 7 pm to 10 pm on weeknights. “VSiN Live on Mad Dog Sports Radio,” hosted by Patrick Meagher and Dustin Swedelson, debuts on Monday, January 6.
VSiN Resurgence?
Launched in February 2017 by the family of legendary sportscaster Brent Musburger, VSiN’s founding couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. It was only a little more than a year later that the US Supreme Court repealed a federal law that limited single-game sports wagering to Nevada.
Since the May 2018 landmark decision, nearly 40 states and Washington, DC, have passed laws authorizing legal sports gambling. VSiN was many sports bettors’ go-to media source for sports wagering content.
DraftKings hoped to capitalize on VSiN’s positioning by paying the Musburgers $70 million for the company in March 2021. However, in recent years, numerous competitors emerged and crowded the sports betting content space.
DraftKings’ bet on VSiN was a losing one. Last July, the sportsbook and iGaming operator sold VSiN back to Musburger Media for an undisclosed price.
“DraftKings continues to optimize its investments in content and media to align with the most critical areas and needs of our business strategy, objectives, and goals,” Stephanie Sherman, chief marketing officer at DraftKings, said at the time. “We want to thank the entire team at VSiN for a great relationship, and we look forward to continuing to advertise on the network.”
SiriusXM Audience
VSiN gaining a SiriusXM channel allows the media outlet to immediately reach many new listeners. SiriusXM reports having 34 million subscribers.
The demand for sports wagering content continues to grow and VSiN is a leader in this space,” said Eric Spitz, vice president of sports programming for SiriusXM. “We’re very pleased to offer our listeners access to VSiN shows and personalities 24/7 on their dedicated channel and are excited to work together on a new exclusive show on ‘Mad Dog Sports Radio’ that will deliver sports fans the kind of smart, insightful content they want and expect.”
VSiN previously aired programming on SiriusXM from 2017 until the COVID-19 pandemic. The VSiN Newsroom Studio is located inside the Circa Resort & Casino sportsbook in downtown Las Vegas.
