A bit about me...
I grew up on a wheat farm in Oregon. My high school was tiny, but there were enough of us to give me the opportunity to play football, basketball, baseball, and even to high jump and pole vault in track. Loved Team sports! After high school, I went to college and graduated with a double degree in Political Science and History.
I wanted to be a cop all my life (hunted and fished as a kid with lots of police officer friends that hung around us and our farm), so after I finished my BA, I joined the Army and went to MP School in Ft. Gordon, GA. (that's a whole story on its own!!!)
After 3 years in Heidelberg Germany US Army 529th Military Police Company, where I served as the body guard for the Commander in Chief, United States Army Europe & 7th Army, 4 Star General Michael S. Davison. I returned to my home County in Oregon and went to work as a Deputy Sheriff for 7 years. (another story all it's own!)
Then, I decided I'd make millions (N O T!) in the business arena, married my Sweetheart, had 3 kids, and flattened my nose on the proverbial Grindstone in Vancouver, WA.
I stood up in church one morning and the Pastor discovered that we were willing to open our home to someone in need of a safe and wholesome environment. Our first Mom & her 6 month old baby boy, 'Nick' , joined us 2 weeks later. Over the next 22 years, we received soooooo many pregnant soon to be Moms, usually coming off drugs, alcohol, or the sex trade, but wanting to keep their baby and to get their lives on a better track, so they consented to live with us and learn how to care for themselves, their baby, and to keep a home, find a good job, and grow. Our homes were filled with 6-15 soon to be Moms over and over and over and we were blessed with lots of new born babies!!! In 22 years, more than 500 babies grace our home!
On the business side of things, I established a real estate brokerage and over the years, helped lots of Clients and trained tons of new Realtors.
Hobbies - I love golf, metal detecting, shooting, and P O K E R! :-)
I figure I'm about Half Way Home at my current 76 years, and I'm going to see how much poker ya'll can teach me to see if I can ever learn enough to enter an actual poker tournament somewhere. I hear there's a few places to play tounaments down around Nevada or Arizona, or Texas, or one of those States!
Here's hoping you are surrounded by family and friends who treat you well and love you to pieces!!! To be continued.... (so many stories, so little time!)
