The Ritz Club (as well as the Ritz Hotel) is located at: 150 Piccadilly, London W1J 9BS, United Kingdom

The Ritz - London

History

The basement of the Ritz Hotel was originally the site of the Ritz Bar and Grill. It was then remodeled into the Banqueting Hall in the mid 1920s. Fifty years later, in the early 1970s, the basement was closed to the public. However, in 1977, Mecca Sportsman and Pleasurama leased the basement and opened The Ritz Club a year later. They restored the space and added 6,000 sheets of gold leaf.

The club was then acquired by London Clubs in 1998. They then formed a new company called The Ritz Hotel Casino Ltd., which continues to own and operate The Ritz Club to this day.

Lodging

The Ritz Club is part of the Ritz Hotel, which offers many attractive lodging options. Even though the Ritz Hotel and The Ritz Club are owned and operated by two separate companies, the hotel is right above the casino and is easily accessible by the club’s members. Let’s cover the 111 rooms and 23 suites at the Ritz Hotel:

The Ritz Hotel offers four different types of rooms: Superior Queen, Superior King, Executive King, and Deluxe King. The suites are as follows: Junior Suite, One Bedroom Suites, Two Bedroom Suites, Three/Four/Five Bedroom Suites, and Signature Suites. The amenities that come with each room and suite include complimentary luggage porter service, 24-hour room service, valet service, chauffeur service, free WiFi, a minibar, and complimentary daily newspapers.

Gambling

The Ritz Club is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Some of the games on offer at the club include: Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, Three Card Poker, and Punto Banco.

In the main gaming salon, you will find:

  • 4 Roulette tables
  • 3 Blackjack tables
  • 2 Three Card Poker tables
  • 2 Baccarat tables

There are three private gaming salons called Salon Privees at The Ritz Club. Here is a breakdown of each room and what it has to offer:

The Carmen:

  • 2 Roulette tables
  • A Blackjack table
  • A Baccarat table

The Aida:

  • 2 Baccarat tables

The Amber:

  • 2 Roulette tables
  • 2 Baccarat tables

The minimum for each type of game is:

  • Blackjack: £25 minimum
  • Roulette: £5 minimum
  • Baccarat: £25 minimum
  • Three Card Poker: £25 minimum

The maximum for each type of game is available on request.

Attractions & Entertainment

The only way you can entertain yourself here at The Ritz Club (besides gambling) is to head over to the bar on the premises to grab a drink or two. You can also enjoy a meal at their restaurant, which offers a breakfast menu, a lunch menu, a dinner menu, a wine menu, and an all-day dim sum menu.

Why The Ritz Club Gets 3 Stars

For such an exclusive gambling club like The Ritz Club with memberships that cost a fortune, The Ritz Club falls flat in a few areas. They offer only a total of 11 gaming tables in the main gaming salon, which means it can get pretty full on a busy night. There are private gaming salons, yes, but you would have to pay extra to use them on top of your hefty membership fee. Their selection of games is pretty limited, and there are no attractions and entertainment alternatives in the building. This club’s redeeming qualities are the lodging and the gaming events and tournaments they offer on a regular basis.
