“Peepshow” Closes, Vegas Strip Has 1.6% Fewer Bare Breasts
“Peepshow,” formerly at Planet Hollywood, wasn’t a very good show. And, no, “good for what it was” isn’t the same thing as good.
The show, which closed Sep. 1, 2013 (it opened in 2009), was always a weird mix of dopey, wafer-thin “story” (yes, in quotes), better-than-average choreography and C-list celebrities shoehorned in for marquee value.
But it did have boobs.
One of the best things “Peepshow” ever did was cast Holly Madison as Bo Peep.
When she joined the “Peepshow” cast, her entire body of work pretty much included being a member of Hugh Hefner’s harem on “Girls Next Door,” a reality show on the E! channel. Holly Madison proceeded to take “Peepshow,” Las Vegas and our heart by storm.
“Peepshow” originally opened with Mel B. and Kelly Monaco starring, the former we’d vaguely heard of, possibly related to the Spice Girls.
There were also people named Aubrey O’Day and Shoshana Bean in the show at one point. We don’t remember them, particularly, but we’re thinking they probably had bosoms of some kind.
One talent to emerge from the “Peepshow” experience is Josh Strickland. His over-the-top, Broadway-style singing was always a peculiar aspect of the show, but it give him a showcase for his considerable talent, and here’s hoping he moves on to bigger and better things soon.
Why did “Peepshow” close? Any show that closes in Las Vegas, regardless of what the news releases say, does so because it’s not making enough money, plain and simple. Successful, profitable shows don’t close in Las Vegas. So, this one had simply run its course.
The last guest star in “Peepshow” was someone named Coco Austin, whose claim to fame is being married to someone with a discernible talent. Namely, Ice-T. Translation: Nail, meet coffin.
While “Peepshow” wasn’t necessarily big on “having a point,” after 1,500 performances, there’s no denying it was a success.
In its place, a new venture is on the way, “Rocktellz & Cocktails.” This new show opens Sep. 26, 2013, and will feature a revolving cast of music veterans, including Meat Loaf.
Sadly, “Rocktellz & Cocktails” won’t have nearly as many boobs as “Peepshow,” although at some point David Lee Roth could be featured, so there’s always hope.
