  This always seemed like a weird piece of land to me, essentially looped by Frank Sinatra where Frank Sinatra ends at Russell. It feels like building a hotel in the middle of a freeway interchange. I wonder if they will try to redirect Frank Sinatra in any way. My bet is that it ends up becoming a Hyatt Place hotel, similar to the Marriott Courtyard, Fairfield Inn and Residence Inn across the freeway, who really are going to cash in on the Las Vegas Stadium lottery.

  Hyatt has a relationship with MGM so this makes a lot of sense. Just curious though, why would it have to keep a low profile when Mandalay Bay is right next door?

  Even though Mandalay Bay is the next property over, it is still a considerable distance down Las Vegas Blvd (the tower itself is almost a half a mile away from this site). This location is much closer to the runways at McCarran and not far from the flight path that the planes take (only about 2/5 of a mile away from the end of the runway). While Mandalay Bay is of a pretty decent height, the lots across the street from Mandalay and Luxor are subject to much tighter restrictions due to their proximity from the airport as well. This is one of the reasons MGM Resorts hasn't developed it and is using it for concerts and other special events (including, of course, the Route 91 Harvest Festival).
