Swingers at Mandalay Bay Will Feature Emmy Squared Pizza
If you pray long enough, your prayers might be answered. For the record, we only pray under two conditions: At the dice table and when pizza is involved.
There are virtually no good pizza options on The Strip, so it is with great joy and hope we share news Swingers, a new golf-themed attraction at Mandalay Bay (opens Nov. 8, 2024), will boast Emmy Squared Pizza.
They had us at “frico-crusted.”
We learned what “frico” is when Superfrico opened at Cosmo. It’s crispy, quasi-burned cheese. ‘Nuff said.
The news release says Emmy Squared Pizza is a “cult favorite,” so slip on your Nike Decades and let’s learn more. (We are fully cognizant Heaven’s Gate references are now three decades old and many of our fellow youths have no idea what we’re talking about. We also realize some people aren’t fans of jokes about suicide cults. Those people probably shouldn’t be reading our blog. They should be crying to their mommies like the big babies they are.)
Emmy Squared Pizza first launched in 2016 in Brooklyn and there are currently 28 locations across the country.
Emmy Squared Pizza is described thusly, “Emmy Squared Pizza delivers a one-of-a-kind experience by combining a New York-style grandma pie with a Detroit-style pizza. Then, takes it up a notch with signature sauces, high-quality ingredients, fluffy, focaccia-like dough with a crispy bottom and caramelized, cheese edging known as frico crust.”
Cheese edging costs extra at brothels, by the way.
The description of Emmy Squared Pizza is mesmerizing and dead center in our culinary sweet spot. Here are some words from the news release about the Emmy Squared menu.
“Frico-Crusted Detroit-style Pizzas: Emmy Squared Pizza’s irresistible options include the MVP, with house-made vodka sauce, red sauce, parsley pesto and a sesame seed crust; the Roni Supreme, a combination of red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni and Calabrian chili; the Big Hawaiian, topped with Ezzo pepperoni, crispy bacon, pineapple and a chile glaze; and the Colony, pairing red sauce with Ezzo pepperoni, pickled jalapeños and a drizzle of sweet honey. All pizzas can be made to be gluten-free and/or vegan.”
The menu will also feature award-winning burgers and “a classic take on the Chicken Parm Sandwich, with breaded chicken, red sauce, mozzarella, basil and pickles.” We’re trying to get past the pickles thing.
Appetizers will be plentiful as well, with Gourmet Meatballs, Zia Fries, the Brussels Sprout Salad and Brooklyn Mozz Sticks.
Swingers will sit in the former Light Nightclub space at Mandalay Bay, not far from self-parking. Here’s more.
Swingers will have four minigolf courses, along with experiential flair like animated projection mapping and DJs, despite our best efforts.
Learn more about Swingers on the official site, and let’s hope Emmy Squared Pizza delivers on its promise of memorable pizza. Superfrico has been doing all the heavy lifting on The Strip, the only real contender to take on downtown’s pizza supreme domination.
Swingers is a huge gamble given its cost and size, destination pizza could help its chances of success.
