With National Horror Movie Day (Oct. 23rd) and Halloween creeping up, we’ve concocted the ultimate dream job for thrill-seekers and horror buffs, just in time for spooky season.
We’re on the hunt for the Ultimate Halloween Horror Movie Tester to help us crown the scariest film of them all. You’ll be rating horror movies on bone-chilling criteria, such as: average BPM (yep, we’re tracking your heart rate), jump scare counts, scream counts, eye-cover moments, goosebumps per scene, and sleep disturbance score!
The best part? You’ll get $2,500 for your courage (or screams) for watching and rating the following films: The Exorcist, Hereditary, The Conjuring, Insidious, and The Ring.
Think you can handle it? Here’s how it works
It’s as easy as shouting “BOO” – submit your application below, cross your fingers, and hope you’re the chosen one! The lucky horror buff will get paid $2,000, plus an extra $500 to cover your comfort snacks for those nail-biting scenes, a heart rate monitor to track those terrifying moments, and any necessary streaming subscriptions!
The winner will need to rate each horror movie, based on the following criteria:
- Average BPM: Track how much your heart races throughout the movie
- Jump scare counts: How many times did you leap out of your seat?
- Scream counts: How many times did you scream?
- Eye cover count: How many times did you cover your eyes?
- Goosebump count: How many times did you feel those hair-raising chills?
- Sleep disturbance score: On a scale of 1 (slept like a baby) to 5 (kept the lights on), how hard was it to drift off afterward?
You’ll be watching then scoring the following horror movies: The Exorcist, Hereditary, The Conjuring, Insidious, and The Ring.
Applications close on Halloween, October 31st, 2024 at 12pm EST. Please read the Terms and Conditions here. Only US and CA applicants can apply.
The winner will be notified within 5 working days after the closing date. Upon acceptance, the winner will receive $500 to purchase snacks, any subscriptions required, and a hear rate monitor. They will need to watch every movie by November 30th and submit their ratings by December 5th, 2024. Upon submission, the winner will be paid $2,000.
